‘Above Us and Between Us’ is a new resource offered by Churches Together in Britain and Ireland to deepen interfaith dialogue and understanding between Christians and Muslims at the local or congregational level. Written by Peter Colwell, it provides a background commentary on the letter ‘A Common World between Us and You’ (published October 2007) that was signed by 138 Muslim scholars and religious leaders and addressed to Christian leaders around the world. That letter made an appeal to establish common ground for Christians and Muslims to come together around mutual acceptance of the centrality of ‘love of God and love of Neighbour.’ The CTBI resource traces the origins of the Letter, the responses made to date, the points of contention between the two faiths, the areas for dialogue, identifies basic guidelines for those who are new to Christian–Muslim dialogue, and suggests resources for further study and reading. It is available as a free download or in printed version for £5 from CTBI offices.
