Glencree, along with the UNITE trade union and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, are the sponsors of a Spring School in Dublin on Saturday 6th May with the title ‘The radical working class Protestant tradition in Northern Ireland’ (programme available here).This will explore the historic but unjustly little known tradition of radicalism, and particularly working class radicalism, in Belfast and other places in Northern Ireland. Among the speakers will be the Alliance Party leader Naomi Long MLA, leading trade unionist Peter Bunting, People Before Profit activist and writer Eamonn McCann, and historian and playwright Philip Orr. The event will take place in UNITE’s headquarters at 55–56 Middle Abbey Street from 11 am to 5.15 pm and admission is free.
