The President of the Methodist Church in Ireland, the Rev Brian Anderson has issued the following Statement in the light of the upcoming General Election in the Irish Republic:

‘Citizens in a democracy, get the opportunity to comment on the work of their Government or on the record of that Government while in Office.

In a world in which many citizens do not have the luxury of expressing their views via the ballot box I would encourage, after prayerfully considering all the literature you have received from those offering for election, to go and exercise your right to vote on election day.’
