Racial Justice Sunday 2015

Hospitality and Sanctuary For All – 13 September 2015

Racial Justice Sunday is an opportunity for all Christians in Britain and Ireland to focus their worship, prayer and action on racial justice by:

  • Celebrating human diversity.
  • Rejoicing in how far God’s people have travelled together.
  • Recognising that there is much further to go both in the Church and in the world

The aims of Racial Justice Sunday are as follows:

  • To raise awareness and deepen understanding of the diversity of culture and experience both in society and in the church.
  • To become more inclusive, outward–looking and welcoming.
  • To encourage all Christians to tackle injustice, not ignore it.

Racial Justice Sunday takes place on the second Sunday in September. However, it can also be celebrated on any Sunday during the year.

This year’s theme aims to prompt conversation and reflection on the theme of hospitality and sanctuary. It has been written by Inderjit Bhogal, of the Leeds Church Institute. An order of service, material for Bible study, group discussions, activities and worship can be downloaded from the CTBI website.
